From the artists studio

Yesterday I was able to begin work on a new painting. The image I am working off of is from our trip to Lake Geneva in Wisconsin – we went on a hike with friends and passed by this beautiful farm. I sketched it out (seen above) and added the first layer of color. I’m pretty excited because I love the red barn and the golden field. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

All about the Traveling Bird paintings

After I finished the Bird Series I was thinking about where the birds were going after their stay on the television antennae. I thought it would be interesting to follow one of them on a journey. I am also fascinated by the changing colors of the sky during the sunset hours of the day and wanted to express how beautiful they are in these paintings.

I painted in acrylic as I had with the Bird Series and I used conte crayon and charcoal for the birds and the telephone wires.
