What an interesting week last week was. I worked diligently on the paintings and went through quite an awkward stage. It is a necessary evil for my pieces and I’ve gotten used to it, well as used to it as anyone would be going through an uncomfortable part in creating something. However, I’m not used to blogging/documenting my work especially when it doesn’t look anywhere near where I want it to be. So, I was very reluctant to put up any pictures of my progress. I did take a couple of pictures though and now that I’m moving into a better place for the layers of the painting I feel more at ease to put up the pictures from last week. This week I’m planning on getting the final layers up and then begin work on the little birds.

Pictures from the expo
Sunday was the last day of the Evanston Art Center Winter Art & Crafts Expo. I was able to get some pictures of the show before everything was taken down and here they are.

From the artist’s studio: En Rose II

Two weeks ago I was able to stop working at my part time job -it is in retail and I couldn’t imagine being 8 months along with all of the holiday shoppers. This has been very nice and I had been planning on working on some new pieces before the baby arrives. Then last week I got a fun surprise, I was asked via etsy’s alchemy to do a special painting! She wants me to do a piece similar to “en rose” but with 3 panels and a bit bigger. So we worked out the details and I started work on it this week.
Yesterday I was able to paint 2 base layers on the canvases (see image of the 3 pieces) and today I added a thin brown layer which warmed the painting up a lot (see image of painting on table). These layers are only the beginning of the many layers I use to create the background in my paintings.
I’m hoping to get this all done around the week of the 22nd. So far so good! I’ll keep you all updated on the progress of this fun project.
Hope you had a great weekend!
