The Canvas Project

A little while ago I applied to be in The Canvas Project Vol. 2 - one of Art House Co-op's community based projects bringing artists together and helping make art more accessible to everyone. They sent me 5 3"x3" canvases and 5 words. I was asked to interpret a different word on each canvas. The words were submitted by viewers and were sent to me at random. After thinking about the words (one of which I had to look up) I came up with my paintings and sent them off yesterday. One of the paintings (I don't know which one) will be at the Atlanta Airport Atrium Gallery and in the book The Art House Encyclopedia Vol. 1. All 5 of the pieces will be for sale through the Co-op. After the project is done, the paintings will be for sale at my Etsy shop.

From the artist's studio - ATC recap

What a weekend! I was in Around the Coyote's Spring 2009 Art Festival. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun as well. I got to meet a number of other emerging artists and see some really nice work including (but not limited to): sophik, Liz Tuckwell (who, incidentally, I went to high school with), Jim Dee, and Anthony Adcock. I shared a room with three other artists and we had some very interesting discussions about all of the options of where to show. I wish I had their cards because I would have added them to this post.

I've uploaded pictures of where my work was hanging. I had planned on bringing my landscapes and went back and forth on whether to bring the "Bird Series". If I had known I had that little wall in the corner (see bottom picture), I would have brought them hands down. But it's no big deal- I ended up bringing the six landscape paintings and I'm happy with the way it turned out.
