I don't know about you but I get overwhelmed with catalogs. Especially this time of year. Don't get me wrong, I love them. I do. I just totally can not handle getting what feels like thousands of them in one month. I felt like I spent more time recycling them than actually going through them. And half of the catalogs we got this year were re-formatted versions of the same company catalog from two weeks before. It's crazy. It's unnecessary and it's a bit stressful. So what did I do? What you can do:
- Grabbed all of the catalogs that I am willing to say "see ya" to (this was tough, but I know that next year at this time there will be less catalogs hogging up my recycling bin)
- Logged into www.catalogchoice.org
- Went through and systematically unsubscribed to each of the catalogs. Plan to spend about 5-10 minutes total on this depending on how many catalogs you want to quit.
Not sure you can take the plunge and get rid of the catalogs? I get it. I love looking through the glossy pages and seeing what I want to buy for my family or for myself. It's a book full of possibilities at your front door. But for me, it became a question of do I want all of these catalogs when I mostly shop online or in the store? Is all the paper in my home worth it? Better yet, is all the paper being created for the catalogs worth it? Especially if they just end up in my recycling anyway?
What do you think?
