A look at Snowdrops

Snowdrops. My newest sketch on canvas. I saw so many of these on walks earlier this year - peeking out of the snow. Symbolizing hope, innocence, and sympathy - they are usually found when winter is ending and spring is about to begin.

A look at Quiet Moment

Quiet Moment was part of a series of sketches inspired by a bird in a meadow that I saw on a hike. The bird was perched on the flower stems that made it seem as though it was weightless. I wanted to bring a light and peaceful feeling to this artwork.

Sketches on Canvas are created to show the simplicity and beauty in nature as well as everyday objects. You can find more information on this piece on my elisaann.etsy site.

A look at In Snow

In Snow was inspired by the plants that can still be seen even in the middle of winter. When snow is covering every inch of space, there are spots where the plants have remained. These looked like small islands and I wanted to explore that feeling more through a sketch. Sketches on Canvas are created to show the simplicity and beauty in nature as well as everyday objects. You can find more information on this piece on my elisaann.etsy site.

A look at Daisies 4

When I am on a walk, I like to snap pictures of nature that inspires me either by its beauty or simplicity. Daisies 4 was part of a series of sketches of Daisies I created a few years back. You can find more information on this piece on my elisaann.etsy site.

A look at Hoboken 6

Hoboken 6 was part of a series of sketches inspired by a photo I took while on a walk in Hoboken, NJ. On this cold day, all of the trees were lined up perfectly from where I could see them.

This photo also became the inspiration for my landscape Winter Line. Sketches on Canvas are created to show the simplicity and beauty in nature as well as everyday objects. This piece can be found on my elisaann.etsy site.

A look at Purple Flowers 6

Purple Flowers 6 was part of a series of sketches inspired by flowers I found on a walk in my neighborhood. I had never really noticed Alliums before I saw them popping out of a garden. I was taken by their beauty, simplicity, and color and wanted to create a series of sketches on them.

This piece can be found on my elisaann.etsy site.

A look at Parsley

Parsley was inspired in the kitchen. I hadn't really seen how delicate and beautiful a sprig of parsley could be.

This piece is part of a series of sketches on canvas I created to show the simplicity and beauty in nature as well as everyday objects. This piece can be found on my elisaann.etsy site.

A look at Butterfly

Butterfly
Sketch on Canvas
By elisa ann lindstrom

Butterfly was inspired by summertime walks with my (then) toddler/pre-schooler. We would stop and look at the bees and butterflies as they flew around the flowers. I wanted to really study what butterflies look like and created this sketch on canvas.

More information can be found about this artwork on my Etsy page.

Ways to support local artists

I saw a meme recently that said "The work of local artists is not sitting on cargo ships" and thought it would be helpful to offer some ideas of a few places to buy art in person.

If you live in the Evanston/Chicago area, there are two shows going on right now through December:

Evanston Made Holiday Market
921 Church Street, Evanston IL
Through December 19th
*my sketches on canvas are for sale including In Snow (pictured)

Evanston Art Center Winter Expo
1717 Central Street, Evanston IL
Through December 20th
*my note cards are for sale including Winter Line (pictured)

If you don't live in the Chicago area, Evanston Made has an online shop

Wishing you all the best this holiday season!
