Secret project in the studio

I've been working on a project for the past couple of months that I'm excited about - it's definitely different than what I've been working on with sketches, drawings and landscapes. It's still secret so I'm not going to get into any more information on that. But here are some pictures so you can see the progress:

Gesso is added to each panel

Multiple layers of blue are painted on the panels

This is all I can show for now... stay tuned...

A look at Just Breathe

For a number of years I have been inspired to change my landscapes to have even more sky so there is more color to draw the viewer to. Just Breathe is my first like this. I have kept the many thin layers of color in the sky and simplified the land. This image is of Lake Michigan and Chicago.

You can find this piece on my Saatchi page.

A look at Reflections

The painting reflections was inspired from a moment at the lake. It was an early spring afternoon and there was an interesting haze over the lake. I had never seen anything like it and decided to take a photo of it to paint it when I got in my studio. As I was working on the piece, the sky became much more animated than my other landscapes but it held the feeling I got at the lake that day so I kept it as is.

You can find this landscape on my Saatchi page

A look at Beach Path

Beach Path
Beach Path by elisa ann lindstrom

Beach Path was inspired by a photo I took while on vacation with a good friend in Maine. She goes to this spot every year since she was little. One of her favorite things to do is explore the beach during low tide, high tide... really, any time is a good time to explore the beach. She really loves this area and I'm so grateful she shared it with me.

My intention for this piece was to share the feeling of being relaxed and on vacation along with the excitement for a day of exploring.

You can find this landscape on my Saatchi page.

Ways to support local artists

A look at Winter Pond

Winter Pond was created after I saw a peaceful space in a very crowded area of the Chicago suburbs. Sometimes we can find calm in unexpected places. This image is from Glenview, IL.

This painting has sold, you can find more paintings of mine like it on my Saatchi page.

A look at Winter Line

The wind at your back
A bustling city across the river
A quiet moment by the water

Winter Line is landscape painting inspired by a walk along the Hudson River in Hoboken, NJ. There is a spot where the land juts out like a pier and trees have been planted.* In the winter it looks like a perfect row of trees. Although I was so close to the city, I was pulled in by the peacefulness of a simple line of trees along the water.

*this was over 10 years ago that I took the photo and this landscape might have changed

This painting is available, you can find it on my Saatchi page.

A look at Waiting

When time stands still

Sometimes I go through older photographs of landscapes I have taken to se if anything pulls me in. Waiting was one of those inspirations. The image is from Door County, Wisconsin. I was drawn into this image by how quiet it felt and honestly it was a bit of respite because my life was in upheaval at the time. It was named by my friend M. Szalai-Raymond who came over when I was working on the painting. We both had been reflecting that although a lot was going on in our lives we were also in the process of waiting for so many other things. The landscape seemed to be saying the same with hay bales and a change of seasons on the way.

This painting is available, you can find it on my Saatchi page

A look at Passage

A hidden view on a hike.

A while ago a group of us set out on a hike near Lake Geneva, WI. The hike went along an old railroad line whose tracks had been removed and gravel for the path replaced it. The path had trees on both sides so when the trees cleared we would get glimpses of fields and farms along the way. Passage was inspired by one of these clearings. I was struck by how green the earth looked as well as the simplicity and beauty of it all.

This painting is for sale, you can find it on my Saatchi page

A look at Morning Walk

Time gives us a new perspective.

Morning Walk is an original painting that I created from a photo I took while in Maine. My good friend shared her favorite summer hideout with me and took me on a morning walk while the tide was low. It was so beautiful and peaceful where the water had pulled back.

This painting is for sale, contact me for more information.
